About us
Church Farm has been in the Walton family since 1937. We rear cattle and sheep, have a flock of heritage breed chickens for eggs, and grow milling wheat for Heygates flour mill.
In 2021 we established a successful pick-your-own pumpkin patch, and a monthly pop-up farm shop and café providing the surrounding area with seasonal local produce. The farm also holds events throughout the year, including our ever-popular “Lambing Live” tours and cookery classes, and is proud to work with other local small businesses.
A bit of history…
In medieval times, the farm would have been much more central in the village, and at times you can still see the outline of the old settlements in the fields surrounding the church. Over the last century, the farm has produced potatoes, mangles and onions, and we also kept cows to provide milk to the families working here and in the village.
As well as cattle, sheep and chickens, there are also horses, cats, dogs, and guinea fowl living on this farm, as well as pheasants and plenty of wildlife. Keep your eyes peeled and dogs under control around the farm and you might be surprised at how many creatures you see!
